Bring a Beehive Collective picture-lecture to your school or community space!
The Beehive Uses Graphics to Educate and Mobilize
In 2008, the Beehive Design Collective allied with Appalachian grassroots organizers fighting Mountain Top Removal Coal Mining, a practice which blasts mountains into moonscapes to fuel the ever-growing global demand for electricity. Our team of volunteer artists and educators put in countless hours designing "The True Cost of Coal," a a visually stunning graphic multi-tool for activists and ordinary folks seeking real solutions. Now we're sharing it with communities all over the U.S. and beyond!
Half the electricity in the U.S. comes from burning coal, the dirtiest energy source on the planet. Mountain top removal is a human and ecological drama wreaking havoc on coalfield communities, folks downwind and downstream of coal-burning power plants, and all of us faced with catastrophic climate change.
We are all impacted by coal, and we all play a part in the system that demands coal as fuel. The Beehive's Coal Campaign is helping more people share stories, find their place in the big picture, and take action to build a just and ecologically sound future.

Beehive in Central America
Bees and various communities, groups and people in Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador & Panama are collaborating to distribute the hive´s graphic trilogy regarding globalization in the Americas, specifically the FTAA, Plan Colombia & Plan Puebla Panama graphics. In 2008 local ants and bees will swarm the regions interested, sharing stories, experiences, the graphics and skills with the creation of new pedagogy tools and cultural resistance.
